The Journey of Five Senses Vancouver Tours

Five Senses Vancouver Tours was founded by Deacon Jones in 2021, but its roots stretch back to 2019 when Deacon began leading tours as part of Airbnb's Experiences Program. Realizing the potential to offer more flexibility and unique experiences than Airbnb's platform allowed, Deacon branched out to create a standalone company that could become a recognizable brand in Vancouver's tourism scene.

The name "Five Senses Vancouver Tours" reflects Deacon's vision for the business: to create tours that engage all five senses—sight, sound, touch, taste, and smell. As someone with a visual impairment, Deacon understands the importance of experiencing the world through a variety of senses, a concept that shapes the tours we offer today.
Our walking tours stand out from the rest because they incorporate the use of public transportation. This approach was inspired by Deacon's interactions with tourists throughout his career, many of whom asked about using Vancouver's transit system. Realizing that showing is more effective than telling, he designed tours that teach guests how to navigate the city's public transport, providing a unique and valuable experience. We are currently the only tour company in Vancouver offering this type of hands-on guidance.
In addition to our regular tours, Five Senses Vancouver Tours offers private, customizable experiences for guests seeking a curated or more luxurious tour. With our extensive network of contacts in the hospitality, luxury transportation, and attractions industries, we can tailor tours to meet a variety of needs and preferences.
Looking to the future, we plan to expand our offerings to include "senses tours" that focus on a single sense and explore how it can be used to experience different parts of the city. As we grow, our goal is to offer even more diverse and engaging tour options, allowing our guests to discover Vancouver in unique and memorable ways.

DEACON JONES
CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER & LEAD TOUR GUIDE
Deacon Jones is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Five Senses Vancouver Tours, a unique walking tour company that immerses visitors in the sights, sounds, and experiences of Vancouver while navigating the city's public transportation system. Born and raised in Vancouver, Deacon grew up living on a boat in the False Creek neighborhood, which gave him a unique perspective on the city and its vibrant culture.

Deacon has 17 years of experience in the Vancouver tourism industry, having started working in the field at just 14. His deep love for the city and its history shines through in every tour he leads. After creating successful tours for Airbnb's Experiences program, he founded Five Senses Vancouver Tours in 2021 to offer more personalized and engaging tours.

Before starting his current business, Deacon founded Dapper Jumpsuit Productions Youth Theatre Society, a registered charity that provided young people with professional theatre experiences. The skills he developed while running this organization, including management, accounting, and team leadership, have been instrumental in the success of Five Senses Vancouver Tours.

Deacon's enthusiasm for Vancouver and its stories is contagious, and his goal is to create memorable experiences that encourage visitors to explore the city further. As the company grows, he looks forward to offering even more unique tours that capture the essence of Vancouver.
KAILEY DAVENPORT
BOOKING MANAGER & ADMINISTRATIVE COORDINATOR
Kailey Davenport is responsible for managing guest relations and ensuring a seamless booking experience at Five Senses Vancouver Tours. Born and raised in the Vancouver area, she has a wealth of experience in office administration and customer service.

Before joining Five Senses Vancouver Tours in April 2023, Kailey worked as a Sign Permit Coordinator, acting as a liaison between major brands like McDonald's and Starbucks and cities across Canada to secure permits for signs and advertisements. This role helped her develop exceptional organizational skills and taught her how to navigate complex administrative processes.
At Five Senses Vancouver Tours, Kailey's focus is on guest relations. She handles telephone inquiries and bookings, manages online marketing, responds to online reviews, and keeps the company's financial books in order. Her friendly demeanor and commitment to customer satisfaction help create a welcoming experience for guests from their first interaction with the company.
Kailey's work is essential to the growth of Five Senses Vancouver Tours. By maintaining efficient operations and providing excellent customer service, she helps the company build a strong reputation and attract more visitors. As the company expands, Kailey looks forward to continuing to contribute to its success and to creating memorable experiences for all who join a tour.
